September 2

I have been doing a lot of research on koi for my upcoming paintings. I shot this picture out at Robin's and really like it. Not so much for its composition or anything like that but because the koi on the left seems to be floating above the water. More to follow.

September 1

I know, way boring picture but it is here to show that we made it in. This is the conference room that was such a mess. We are down to a few punch list items and a few more pieces of art to add but the space came out better than we had hoped. Go see the third floor of the Walker Center, "Smith Hartvigsen" Very cool space if we do say so ourselves.

August 31

Annie's Birthday and here she is in her Birthday Hat! Next birthday is Katherine's and now she is already asking about her hat. She wants to be a fashion designer and I think wants to have creative input on the design of her hat. Well see. . .
Happy birthday Annie! Love you lots!

August 30

Mom sent me an email with a photo of my niece's daughter wearing one of the hats she hand knits with the request to turn it into a logo for her web site. Here is what I came up with. Hope it works out. Love you both

August 29

We had a farewell party for John and Zac. John is headed off to start the photography program at Art Center College of Design and his cousin Zac is headed back to Lake Placid to continue luge training. John let me play with some of the glass he recently picked up for his schooling. Talk about jealous! I am so excited for him and wish him all the best. Work hard down there Jonner bugs!

August 28

William and Harry with their eyes just begining to open.

August 25-27

August 24

Jane and the girls left Helper a day early because Jane "felt like she needed to be home." When they got there Lady (the cat) was already in labor. William and Harry were actually born at about 3:00 in the morning and the girls ended up sleeping through it. Watching the birth of the kittens was to be lesson one the home school version of the "maturation program." Oh well, I guess it will be books and pictures.

August 23

For the past couple of months I have been getting down to the office early and spending a couple of hours every morning back in the studio painting. Here is the "side view" of about half of the work I have been able to complete. For the front view you will need to come and see me at the studio.

August 22

This is the hand of the professor who taught me how to draw and paint portraits and the human figure. He is one of the most skilled and tallented figure artists today. Paul Davis

But don't ever be late to one of his classes!

August 21

Late night arts festival goers sporting the latest in party eye wear.

August 20

I spent the weekend in Helper Utah. I called and entered a painting in the salon and with it they offered me a free booth in their arts festival. I had a great time and was thrilled when the whole family and Howard and Betty showed up for support. It was a lot of fun and good to reconnect with the "gang"

August 17-19

August 16

Look! It's Michael! Smiling! I think this is the best candid I have ever been able to take of him. I shot about six frames as fast as I could. By the third frame he had his tongue out and his finger buried in his nose. I have more pictures of the twins "picture bombing" their own photos than I care to admit. Glad to finally have one now.

August 15

We celebrated Emma's birthday today (officially it is on the 16th) and started a new family tradition, Birthday Hats! Jane and I put this one together while Emma was sleeping. Thank goodness there is a WalMart and a Michael's in PC. Annie is already asking about hers. . .

August 14

Peter came up and spent the day with us in Park City. Everyone rode the alpine slide and the coaster. Jane was not too thrilled when she found out that the bike he borrowed and rode up the hill on wasn't one that needed to be pedaled.

August 13

Annie, Raymo, and Belle hanging out in PC. This year Jane's family put together a semi stay-cation in Park City. We actually had a great time, had some killer food, saw some great art, heard some very good music and had a brilliant time with the extended family. One treasure we found is "Jupiter Bowl" if you have never been you are missing a real treat!

August 12

I have been leaving the days that I "miss" blank and at one point was thinking I should just leave them out. However, I decided that I would leave them in. It is a reminder to me to not forget my camera and to remember to get it out of its' bag. I have realized that there are never days with out good pictures, only days when I fail to see and seize them. Oh crap! I havent shot anything yet today! Check on back when I post 9/7 and see if I get anything.

August 11

This evening was the neighborhood block party. I was recruited by one of my neighbors to help with the face painting booth. This is what you get when you ask a guy who paints flowers to paint on faces. I tried, but couldn't talk anyone into a big koi fish across their face. Maybe a back piece. Volunteers?

August 9-10

August 8

My oldest with her youngest. Erica and Lola Jane

August 7

Jane helping Shelly and Matts little girl into her kitty mask. Miracles walk with us.

August 6

Strange clouds out the studio door.

August 5

I found these sunflowers just down the street from the house. They are great fodder for a painting. . . . . .or two.

August 3-4

August 2

This traffic is for the dogs!

August 1

Emma with a snap dragon, SNAPPING! I brought Emma and Katherine into the yard to show them the snap dragons and teach them how to make them "snap." They were so mad at me when they found out that they weren't "real" snapping dragons! "That's it? That's all they do? Dad you are sooooo boooring!" I like snap dragons, natures own puppet.

July 31

July 30

This is a progress shot of the space in the Walker Center we have been working on. The law firm moves in this week end. Oh poop! Good news, the space was ready when they moved. A little messy, but ready!

July 29

My commute home.

July 28

Jeffrey Cobabe and Associates has been working on the design of a law firm going into the Walker Center in down town SLC. While walking through the parking structure I noticed this. . .

July 27

These are the bottles of painting medium, varnish and solvent I keep in my studio. I was in the studio shooting some of my work and liked the accidental composition of my supplies.

July 26

July 25

Little Rosie Posy. I first shot Rosie on the beach in Newport in 2005. Some of my (and her Mother's) favorite beach pictures are of Rosie dancing in the surf. This one was taken while "hanging out at the Garza's pool."

July 24

For the pioneer holiday today the Cobabe's threw a "Trailer Bash." We all dressed up in our finest trailer trash duds and had baked macaroni and cheese from a can! After dinner we all jumped into the front seat of the truck and ran out to the track to watch the figure eights and the fire works. Ma' gooder judgement don't let me stick up none of them pictures of the family in their trailer house best. Just picture Daisy Dukes and a tied up gingham shirt, and that's notin' compared to what Jane was wearing! Next year, ya'll hav' ta come.
I shot this picture that night at the race track. It is Dee and Garza's little girl. She has a huge crush on the boy she was talking to and absolutely turns inside out when he gives her any attention. The age gap might be a bit of an issue though.
